Spiritual Tiredness

Have you ever watching a child fight sleep? They scream, they kick, they whine, they wiggle, they will do ANYTHING to avoid the dreaded closing of their eyes. That is my daughter for sure! You would seriously think that a nap is the worst torture that could be inflicted on her the way she acts. (Mommy and Daddy think it would be the best treat in the world to have a nap. It’s amazing how viewpoints change with age!)

I sometimes wonder if God feels the same way about me in my walk with Him. Sometimes, I am so worn out from giving spiritually all day everyday and I wonder how I can make it another moment but I avoid a time of spiritual rest. I kick and scream about changing my schedule to accommodate a longer prayer and Scripture reading time. I keep myself in noisy situations where I have no chance of hearing God’s still small voice speak to me. There is no way possible for me to spiritually recharge my batteries but I fight that spiritual rest worse than my daughter fights her nap.

Has there been a time when you have resisted the call of God to come away from all the noise and busyness of life and just refocus on Him? What are ways that help you spiritually recharge when you do get run down? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for stopping by!
